** RELATE TO INTERDISCIPLINARY PROJECT **
ESSENTIAL QUESTION: Keeping the stories of both Esperanza's great grand-mother and Marin in mind, what identities, if any, are permanent and which do we have the power to change? Is Esperanza doomed to repeat the mistakes of the other women in the barrio because of the circumstances she was born into?
PREDICTION: Do you predict Esperanza will be a woman "waiting by the window," or "waiting for someone to change her life," OR do you think she will create her OWN destiny?

Post-it-Note Connection Activity:
Students will be broken into pre assigned groups of 3-4 students each. With their groups, they will need to write the following, using what they’ve read thus far:

2. 3 Text-to-Self connections (write on yellow post-it notes)
3. 3 Text-to-World connections (write on green post-it notes)
After writing their connections on the three different color post-it notes, students can stick their post-it notes to the “Connection Wall” in the classroom.
